Movement when walking forward is stuttering/not working at all. Not controller problem because "flipped" sticks via options show no deadzone
Pressing the left analog stick forward doesn't let Joel walk forward. When the controls are flipped via the options menu, the left stick doesn't have the same deadzone. The problem only occurs when trying to walk forward on The Last of Us Remastered story mode. I first noticed this while playing Left Behind as Ellie did it, after I had beaten Grounded Mode. When I tried to continue my Grounded New Game+ the problem continued. This bug is not present in multiplayer or any other game on the PS4. Please tell me there's a solution, because I could not find one online and it's making my favorite game impossible to play.
This is absolutly NOT a controller problem. My PS4 is less than year old and this is only the 4th game I've played on it so the controller is virtually new. Additionally, the problem goes away when I crouch! But playing the entire game in a crouch is really not an option. This behaves more like a collision detection/pathfinding bug. It is seriously aggravating as this is my first time playing the game and I really want to like it but I can't even play it because it's annoying. And since the problem seems to be at least 5 years old, it's obvious Naught Dog doesn't care enough to address the issue. And that's a shame because they make good stuff.
This issue is reported quite often on the Reddit forum for the multiplayer. It IS a problem with your thumbstick. It's generally due to getting dirt lodged inside. The reason swapping via the options menu fixed it is because your other thumb stick doesn't have the same dirt stuck in it.
I found some similar threads reporting the same problem - 1 of which had a response from Naughty Dog.
Suggested it was most likely a controller problem. I flipped the sticks in controller options and the characters moved normally when the right stick was used to control movement.
So I bought a new controller and my issue seems to be fixed.
I get the same problem with both characters in both the main game and left behind. On the easier levels it was just an iritation but I am using grounded level and it makes difficult levels virtually impossible. Same issue also reported as "Walking with Joel"
This is my gameplay
It actually occurs infrequently in multiplayer but constantly in singleplayer. Again, I don't have this problem on any other game nor does it persist when I flip the analog sticks in the options...so the problem is certainly not my controller.
