Gamma Issues/Black levels issues
In some part of the game, the low light sections, the image seems to be washed out. You’re at night and the image at the darkest spot is grey. If you take a screenshot and analyse it on your PC, you’ll see that there is a whole section between true black and grey that is not used at all: not a single dot.
A good example of this is the transition between a CG (with true black) with washed out in-game in this vids (24’10) "Outside the city" :
Don't see a reason for that artificially low contrast.
Game is still awesome. Keep up the good work ;)
Started playing the remastered now and have the issue (patch 1.0.6). Uninstalled the patch and still have the issue. It's unplayable IMO.
Here someone also detailed the problem http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Technical-Questions-The-Last-of/Wrong-black-levels-in-story-after-applying-patch-1-01-Screens/td-p/44193358
Apparently there was no issue pre-1.01
I have this issue also, thankfully I've finished the game multiple times on the PS3 otherwise this would have affected my experience. I've looked into and it seems to be related to the latest patch as it was fine before. I have no idea why I'm affected... maybe the type of TV? Any help would be appreciated.
Just to note, all dark sections are washed out and grey. Detail is lost. Brighter areas are unaffected.
Yeah this always bothered me too. What is the reasoning behind this? Those few parts look bad compared to other levels without this problem...
