Console crashes without error code
I purchased The Last Of Us Remastered on disk last week. Every time I try to play it, my console completely shuts down and boots back into Safe Mode. I'm not seeing any error code as reported by some others here, just a black screen and then the console shuts itself off.
It seems to happen about 50% of the time right after the Naughty Dog and The Last Of Us splash screens (before the menu). The other 50% of the time it seems to happen after 5-10 minutes once I'm in the game, usually when some tutorial text pops up on the screen (I haven't been able to make it through the first chapter yet). I've only tried the single player mode as I don't have an active PSN account at the moment.
Both the game and the console are on the latest builds. I've tried deleting and re-installing the game, deleting my save game, rebuilding the database, and re-initializing the console--none of which have helped. The problem only happens with this game, so Sony support couldn't/wouldn't help when I contacted them.
My model is CUH-1001A and I have 364 GB of free disk space. Is there anything else I can try to get this issue resolved?
Unfortunately, the game is back to being completely unplayable for me. Everything worked perfectly while I was on the 2.00 console software--not a single crash in hours of playing. This weekend, I upgraded the console to 2.02 and now the game will no longer load.
It's the same problem as before (console crashes to a black screen and then powers off with no error code). However, now it is always happening immediately after trying to load the game, right after the initial splash screen with Joel & Ellie. I've tried all of the same stuff (reinstalling the game, rebuilding the database, etc.) but it constantly crashes. I'm moving on to a different game for now, hopefully this will get fixed at some point in the future and I can pick it back up.
From what I can tell, the 2.00 PS4 update fixed my problem.
I uninstalled the game, updated the console software, reinstalled and updated the game, after which everything seems to be working fine. I was able to play for about an hour and a half without any crashes. My previous ~10 attempts before the update all crashed after 5 or 10 minutes.
Thanks mjr9804. For your 6 other games, were they previously installed before you encountered this issue? If so, can you attempt re-installing one?
Yes, I have 6 other disc-based games that don't have this problem. I haven't tested with any digital/download-based games.
Hi, thanks for the extensive detail, and sorry you are having problems. This is a very strange issue. When you say it doesn't occur with other games, does that include other games off disc? This sounds like a HD install error of some kind.
